I'm gonna slam socialism.
This is Sense…or Nonsense, where we censor nonsense. Today’s mind-numbing nonsense is socialism.
We’ll begin with a photo I took of my friend’s backyard:
Now, not everyone has or can have a backyard like this. But that’s OK.
In the USA socialism is becoming more and more accepted…inconceivable as that is.
My suspicion is that people look at what they think capitalism is, and they see greed. And they think it is the greedy capitalists who are making people poor, so to fix it we need benevolent socialism to share the wealth. What they don’t realize is that there is nothing remotely benevolent about socialism.
Capitalism is vulnerable to greed in the same way that every facet of human existence is vulnerable to the entire spectrum of human vice. However, it is entirely possible for capitalism to function apart from greed. To the contrary, socialism cannot exist apart from greed. Greed/lust/covetousness, grasping for power, control, and other people’s property is the very lifeblood that sustains socialism.
Some people think the Bible teaches socialism. It does not. In true community, generosity is voluntary; “God loves a cheerful giver.” [2Cor9:7] Here is Acts 2:
44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;
45 and they began selling their property and possessions
and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple,
and breaking bread from house to house,
they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,
47 praising God and having favor with all the people.
And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
This is not socialism. (I talked about this in my last podcast, #32). The Christians in the Book of Acts were moved by God to say to their brethren, “All that is mine is yours.” Socialism is moved by the desire to BE god to say, “All that is yours is mine.” See the difference?
Anything that mocks, denies and/or opposes God’s Word is evil, and socialism is evil in spades. In Episode #28 (my Child Training Tip about sharing) I discussed the God-given necessity of outright ownership. I said rights derive from property, so if you own nothing you can have no rights. In other words, rights demand ownership. Socialism obliterates ownership and rights.
Said Cea Weaver, director of the communist New York City Mayor’s (Mamdani) Office to Protect Tenants (see how they always want to sound oh so compassionate, but never mind how they treat the landlords):
“Private property, especially home ownership, is a weapon of white supremacy.” [Because, of course, no non-white people own homes or have private property.]
“Home ownership is racist.”
“Seize private property.”
“If you don’t believe in the government’s sacred right to seize private property, it’s over.”
“Elect more communists.”
There is no compassion here. This is braindead lawlessness. This is not just some idiot’s snortworthy opinion. When we hear stuff like this we should not think, “That dame is nuts.” We should recognize, “That dame is evil.” These people will steal whatever they want and hide behind the shield of “protecting tenants.” Thus Zohran Mamdani, her champion, is also evil and a purveyor of evil. This should come as no surprise. But it is a mistake to gloss over his ilk with a “tsk” and a hope that he gets voted out. “Tsk” is not the proper response to evil. And I might point out that across the decades voting has proven to be profoundly ineffective against evil.
Bernie Sanders used to vilify millionaires until, thanks to capitalistic opportunity, he became one. Now he vilifies billionaires. Socialism doesn’t make anyone rich; it levels the playing field to ensure everyone is equally poor. Any socialist who has more money than you do is a lying hypocrite.
Socialism doesn’t work because it cannot work. It violates human nature. It ridicules achievement. It kills motivation. It whitewashes extortion. People are entitled to the fruits of their own labor. They are not entitled to the fruits of other people’s labor, and every worker knows it.
Proponents of socialism claim it’s: “all in all for the good of the public. This economic philosophy greatly reduces the disparity in wealth, class, and societal ranks, which in turn contributes to a more equal society.” Equally deprived, equally enslaved, equally miserable. Never, ever do they explain why this is desirable or good for the public. Never.
So we should ask: What does the ideal equal society look like? Who has been given the authority to determine what your life and mine should be like? What should we have, what should we forfeit, and how should we act in order to maintain equality? How will they deal with people who object to their ideal? How do they justify abolition of individuality? How do they reconcile their love of “diversity” with their insistence of sameness? What, in fact, does “equal” mean, and why is it so blasted important to achieve it? I’ve read a good bit about socialism and nobody answers these questions. Ever.
If you’ve listened to my previous podcasts you know I claim that America is destroyed by the false belief that, “God loves everyone and so should we.” The socialists are Exhibit A to prove my claim. They think it’s so loving to make sure that everyone is the same so no one feels left out. And the loving way to accomplish equality is to forcibly strip everyone of their rights by abolishing private property lest some have more than others. News flash: That is NOT love.

Socialism is the open door to full-fledged communism. Americans long ago opened the door to socialist/communist programs like government schooling, food stamps, welfare, social security, non-voluntary insurance, property tax, farm subsidies, and I would add income taxes which are extorted and spent in ways we never approved and likely vehemently disapprove. (I’ve decided that all my tax money goes only toward fireworks. I mean if the money is going to disappear, it might as well be entertaining.)
Americans have grown accustomed to and dependent on these programs, which is why socialism is becoming increasingly mainstream. The more people depend on the government, the more they become enslaved. This is, of course, the goal. The masses fall for the ruse relentlessly because just as the greedy government loves to take, the greedy people love to get.
I do not fault people who avail themselves of the opportunity to recoup money that has been extorted from them. But it is wrong for governments to set themselves up as providers, and particularly as providers of necessities like money, food, housing, jobs, health care, education and safety [Psalm 4:8]. Providing such things is not a legitimate function of government. Our provision is from God first, and ourselves second. When they usurp our authority they are tyrants. When government supplants God they blaspheme.
Every civilization that forsakes God’s Law and establishes a government according to the laws of men (which is pretty much every civilization), eventually winds up in the foul soup where America is floundering. This is why empires routinely rise and fall.
